Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Practice Clinician (COVID Initiative) – Embry Health – Sierra Vista, AZ

Embry Health is currently recruiting for Physician Assistant (PA), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or related other licensed providers to work in mobile or field based clinic settings in Sierra Vista, AZ. The test site is due to open on 10/17/2020 or 10/24/2020 at Buena High School. The work environment is based in multiple outdoor Advanced Care clinics that operate primarily within field based test / or mobile sites. The Field Unit has primarily focused on COVID-19 testing, however, they are expanding to provide a variety of primary care related services including vaccinations, med checks, refills, and other services. Designed to increase access to medical services during the pandemic, especially for those who are unable to go into a traditional clinic setting.

Test / clinic sites operate a variety of hours with many being open 24/7. Locations of clinic sites cover diverse locations such as parking lots, long term temporary structures, community college locations.

  • Hours
    • Multiple shifts available with ability for providers to work preferred shift
    • Providers would not be expected to be available for all shifts
    • Multiple hours per week available including full time, part time, and PRN

      • AM 07:00 – 15:00
      • PM 15:00 – 23:00
      • Overnight 23:00 – 07:00

  • COVID-19 Related Required Services

    • Must be willing and able to collect specimens from patients for COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses
    • Must be knowledgeable in COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses
    • Willingness and ability to educate patients on risk avoidance and mitigation efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19
    • Comfortable in handling and processing specimens related to COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses once collected. Such as bagging and labeling specimens for external lab testing
    • Must be willing and able to adapt to factors unknown or unforeseen during the ongoing pandemic
    • Adapts to potential changing business requirements such as unforeseen surges in patient volume due to increases in case numbers
  • Diverse Clinic Site Location Requirements

    • Must be willing and able to work in a variety of environments
    • Field locations including but not limited to field clinics with diverse environmental factors such as rain and heat
    • Temporary pop up tent locations such as for focused single day events
    • Long term temporary structures such as test / clinic sites located in parking lots
    • Most long term temporary structures will have offices that are air conditioned, however, this is not guaranteed and the expectation to work in areas with evaporative or fan based cooling systems
    • Examples of temporary clinic site locations include parking lots at private employers, city owned land, educational institutions, churches and other similar sites
    • Must be willing and able to work in locations with limited access to air conditioning and exposure to environmental factors such as heat
  • Patient-Centered Quality and Safety

    • Provide clinical oversight for testing services in a unique COVID-19 patient testing environment, including but not limited to onsite employer clinics, mobile sites, and onsite locations.
    • Educate patients on maintaining proper health
    • Evaluate, make recommendations, co-manage and treat patients’ medical needs for safe and high quality treatment
    • Document all patient care within an electronic health record
    • Participate in an interdisciplinary team providing care and coordination of our patients with internal and external colleagues including the broader patient centered medical home ensuring the highest level of care is provided for all patients and at all times

  • Required Qualifications
    • Active Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in good standing and active in the state of this job posting.
    • Current National Board Certification, Family Practice or related speciality
    • A minimum of 6 months of recent and relevant Nurse Practitioner of which Primary Care experience in either a family medicine or primary care practice, preferred
    • Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
    • Demonstrated outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task
    • Proven Initiative, problem solving ability, adaptability and flexibility
    • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision and practice autonomously

  • Preferred Qualifications
    • 2-3+ years of Nurse Practitioner or similar experience preferred
    • Providers will be assigned a primary site, however, are expected to travel to and staff other locations within a manager-defined area as needed by the business
    • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to move about and interact with customers, sit, write, operate the computer and phone, speak intelligibly, and hear
    • Depending on the market, the ability to be proficient in both speaking and writing in Spanish may be required
  • Education
    • Completion of Master’s Degree level Family Nurse Practitioner program with current license in state of employment to practice in the Advanced Practice Nurse role required
    • Or Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies with current National Board Certification and State of Employment license to practice
    • Or similar licensure to provide advanced care services in the state of employment
