Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) & Infection Prevention Nurse – York Nursing & Rehabilitation Center – Virginia Health Services – Yorktown, VA

Virginia Health Services is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) & Infection Prevention Nurse, at our York Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, located in Yorktown, VA! This position is a Full Time opportunity.

The Assistant Director of Nursing Operations reports to the Vice President of Nursing and provides support to facilities to maintain standards of resident care.

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) has the following responsibilities:

  • Oversees the recruitment process of nursing personnel
  • Oversees the hiring and onboarding of nursing personnel
  • Supervises scheduling process to assure appropriate staffing ratios
  • Assists in developing policies and procedures for nursing
  • Reviews employee records and recommends disciplinary action in collaboration with Human Resources
  • Assists in developing and implementing employee engagement and retention activities
  • Analyzes staff turnover and develops initiatives for improvement
  • Consults with nursing management and provides interpretation of policies and procedures
  • Coordinates, monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of nursing care
  • Assists in monitoring the purchase and use of nursing supplies and equipment
  • Promotes and demonstrates positive customer service towards VHS, co-workers, residents and visitors
  • Partnering with the Medical Director and Director of Nursing to develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plan
  • Ensuring appropriate intervention and education occurs with staff, residents and visitors when healthcare infection trends, outbreaks or non-compliance to infection control/OSHA are identified
  • Surveying of healthcare acquired and community acquired infections
  • Providing education and counseling on infection prevention to staff, volunteers, providers, residents and families through group and individual sessions
  • Providing ongoing facility and company based inservice education to staff
  • Monitoring facility and staff for infection control practices and provides education accordingly
  • Attends and participates in committees as assigned
  • Performs other delegated duties.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and holds current Virginia license.
  • Experience/education in Gerontological Nursing required.
  • Computer knowledge required.
  • Current drivers’ licenses in good standing.
  • Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret information.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, turn, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach, talk, hear, taste and smell.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens and hazardous materials.

OTHER SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Salaried (Exempt)
  • Not eligible for shift or weekend differential
  • 30 day notice is required for voluntary termination of employment.
