Job Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for independently applying clinical laboratory techniques in the performance of test procedures to provide data used in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Job Duties:
- Performs standardized laboratory procedures and a variety of complex, analytical laboratory procedures within the area or section to which assigned; reviews test results for accuracy; completes reports.
- Evaluates and implements new or revised laboratory procedures and techniques.
- Reviews, interprets, and completes quality control procedures and technical troubleshooting.
- Performs weekly preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Accessions samples for in-house testing and referral laboratory testing.
- Helps secure media and supplies for research studies and manages trial supply requests.
- Secures media and supplies for clinical testing and research studies and manages supply requests.
- Assists in the review and revision of laboratory policies and procedures and in the preparation for laboratory inspections by various regulatory/accrediting agencies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience is required.
Additional Licenses and Certifications:
Certification as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist or equivalent is required.
