Assistant Academic and Clinical Coordinator Physical Therapy – University of Mount Union – Alliance, OH

This position answers directly to both the Director of the University of Mount Union Doctor of Physical Therapy (UMUDPT) Program and its Director of Clinical Education.

The Assistant Clinical and Academic Coordinator (ACAC) helps orchestrate and lend continuous improvement to the technical, operational and educational functions associated with the coordination of clinical site rotations for Mount Union DPT students and clinical coordinators and instructors. The ACAC helps to ensure that the program meets its professional education requirements especially related to clinical education, accreditation, professionalism, continuing education, and essential student and alumni affairs during program matriculation and as needed post-graduation. The position also supports program curricular development and assessment, including gathering of data via survey and exit interviews, accreditation management, and program development via related data analysis and reporting. This position works closely with all program leadership, university agents, and students to ensure that processes and documentation align and support the mission, values, and priorities of the UMUDPT program and University of Mount Union, with the ultimate goal of improving the student learning environment, experience, and outcomes both didactically and clinically. Work with the UMU DPT ProBono team is preferred when time permits.

Responsibilities

· (If a PTA only) Supports the DCE, with duties that support the work of licensed physical therapy credentialed professionals, to include site visits, clinical advising, and assessment of student progress.

·Expertise with EXXAT is critical.

· Manages the flow of clinical students through the approval process, ensuring appropriate and required documentation is maintained in the student file within the student management systems in accordance with prescribed policies, procedures, and cycle times.

· Supports staff and faculty throughout the approval, collection, and on-boarding process of matriculants.

· Supports creation and maintenance of student records. Performs periodic file and system audits/reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness per established policies and procedures of Mount Union and all applicable CAPTE requirements.

· Expertise in conflict resolution and professional communication skill set

· Ensures proper documentation procedures regarding contracts, affiliation agreements, students, evaluations and academic records.

· Assesses student clinical rotations to assure they meet or exceed the 50% NONPF threshold for mentored preceptorship with the same population focus providers.

· Supports management of CAPTE accreditation needs to include program data collection, exit interviews, and reporting for self-study assessments, Annual Academic Report, program progress reports and preparation for site visits.

· Supports professional education initiatives and student membership drives for APTA, OPTA (CEU’s) to foster professional community building and research initiatives such as our Annual Research symposium

· Supports faculty and student use of essential learning technology including Exam Soft, Scorebuilders, D2L, and Survey Monkey.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree. Master’s preferred.

Experience: Candidates with familiarity of PT or PTA clinical or educational settings or academic clinical coordination preferred. We also seek candidate with experience in several of the following – CAPTE accreditation processes, continuing education program development, instructional technology, or student advising. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
