Director of Nursing (DON) (RN) – Float – Volunteers of America – Montrose, CO

Volunteers of America National Services is looking for a permanent full-time interim nurse leader to join our team!

The ideal candidate will have prior Director of Nursing experience in a long term care setting. This person should be flexible and open to traveling to Colorado and Minnesota. Remote work is also available in between travel assignments.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Western Regional Nurse Consultant
  • Instructs staff on various federal, state and facility’s regulations, policies and procedures; monitors compliance.
  • Accepts responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Campus Executive Director.
  • Provide coverage for nurse leader roles (Director of Nursing, Nurse Manager, MDS Coordinator) for: Leave of Absence, vacation, and turnover
  • Review resident care plans and audit systems
  • Staff development

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $72,800-87,000 annual salary, depending on experience and certifications
  • $5,000 hiring bonus, to be paid over the next 24 months of employment

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado with minimum of two (2) years experience in nursing supervisory or nursing management in a long-term care setting or equivalent, ability to become licensed in the State of Minnesota within 90-days.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of long-term care, gerontology, rehabilitative, and medical-surgical nursing care, Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention and Infection Control.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for long-term care.
  • Understanding of current Infection Prevention and Control and OSHA guidelines.
  • Knowledge of QAA/QAPI theory and process.
  • Knowledge of MDS process.
  • Must be willing to work in facilities that are following infection control precautions and regular testing for COVID-19.
  • Must be licensed or willing to get licensed primarily in CO & MN, and possibly the other states that VOA operates facilities in the future
  • Experience in long-term care setting preferred.
