CNA FT 6:30a-3:00p Mon- Fri or 2:30p-11:00p Mon-Fri – Zarrow Pointe – Tulsa, OK

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Provides all activities of daily living, i.e. bathing, dressing, answering call lights, oral hygiene, toileting, and feeding.

  • Must chart in Smart Charting after care is provided.
  • Communicates and relates to the resident on a one to one basis.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to resident’s emotional, social and mental health needs through skillful directed interactions.
  • Does vital signs monthly and as requested by Charge Nurse.
  • Assists residents in rehabilitation, i.e., walking, transfers, range of motion exercises, etc., and practices reality orientation.
  • Turns residents every two (2) hours, reports to charge nurse any changes in skin condition of the resident. Must also offer fluids every two (2) hours at time of repositions.
  • Answers resident call lights promptly.
  • Keeps fresh water available at all times and within reach and offers to the resident every two (2) hours to assist themselves in hydration to those that are not able. Must document fluid and snack intake in Smart Charting.
  • Measures and records intake and output accurately and reports to the Charge Nurse in Smart Charting for all residents. Residents are to be laid down 30-40 minutes after meals.
  • Changes bed linens weekly on bath days and as needed and complete skin monitoring shift and give to Charge Nurse.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the residents’ personal area and sees that it is kept hygienic, safe, and functional. If resident is on Falling Leaf Program must keep call light within reach and beds to lowest position.
  • Assists residents to and from dining room and to and from activities in the building or on the patios.
  • Demonstrates proper responses to emergency situations per our policy.
  • Must chart in Smart Charting after every toileting, incontinent cares and meals.
  • All charting for incontinent care and toileting must be charted at least three (3) times each shift, first round is charted under scheduled care and all other rounds are charted under unscheduled care.
  • All Smart Charting should be completed thirty (30) minutes before shift ends and have Charge Nurse Check to ensure all charting is properly documented.
  • Completes cleaning, stocking and other special assignments as assigned by the Charge Nurse, and supervised by the Staff Nurse.
  • Practices aseptic techniques and infection control measures per policy.
  • Practices proper body mechanics in transferring, and turning. Practices our “No Lift” policy and uses lifting equipment as assigned.
  • Provides privacy when doing personal care for the resident.
  • Assists residents with arriving on time, transferring in and out of beauty shop chairs, and leaving beauty shop appointments.
  • Attends in-service two (2) times monthly.
  • Makes rounds with on-coming shift (referred to as “bed check”).
  • Performs any other duties as designated by the Charge Nurse.
  • CNA is never to leave the floor for breaks or lunch without notifying the Charge Nurse or Care Coordinator
  • Must be able to work in stressful situations in dealing with the needs of the elderly. Must be able to take instructions and work on a team as a team member.
  • All transfer equipment is to be sanitized before and after each use.
  • Read resident care plans at nurse’s station to familiarize with the residents needs and interventions and what they like for activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have successfully completed a certified nurse aide course approved by the Oklahoma State Dept. of Health.
  • Three 3 to six 6 months experience in nursing home or hospital preferable but not necessary.
  • Must be eighteen 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be physically and mentally capable of performing the duties required.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people with the facility.
  • Must be willing to work some weekends and some holidays.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
