Social Worker 2 – State of Iowa Talent Gateway – Clinton, IA

This position involves continuous assessment and oversight of cases in which the Department has determined that abuse/neglect of children has occurred. Professionals in this role have primary case management responsibility, including engaging the family, the family’s support system, and other professionals in the development and implementation of plans to establish safety, permanence, and child/family well-being. This position involves regular in-home contact with parents and children for the purposes of assessing risk and progress toward safe case closure. At times, this position requires arranging for foster care/relative care for children unable to remain in the parental home. This position requires the ability to apply Iowa Code, agency policy, and sound professional judgment to highly complex situations involving crises and/or chronic abuse/neglect. The successful applicant must have strong analytical skills and the ability to write clear narrative reports. Persons in this position must be highly responsible and conscientious, recognizing that their role is key in helping families and maintaining agency accountability to the family, Juvenile Court, and all others involved. Travel is required.

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university;

OR

the equivalent of four years of full-time technical work experience involving direct contact with people in overcoming their social, economic, psychological, or health problems;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting the equivalent of one year of full-time qualifying work experience for one year (thirty semester or equivalent hours) of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years.
