Job Summary
To provide clinical intake service and assessment process for the psychiatry service line. To schedule staff to appropriately match assessment volume. To maintain Emergency Department/ED consultations at various campuses. To ensure comprehensive assessments are provided to all clients. To maintain statistics on call volume, assessments, and assignment of patients to physicians.
Accountabilities
- Maintains statistical data on all inquiry calls/assessments/no shows, daily activities of Intake & Assessment Department.
- Evaluates patients at various healthcare facilities.
- Provides clinical information to insurance companies for pre-certification.
- Provides telephone assessment for professionals in the community to determine clinical appropriateness for admission.
- Represents Prisma Health in a positive manner when interacting with community professionals.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education – Master’s in Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling or related field.
Experience – Three (3) years of psychiatric social work or counseling experience in a hospital setting

Other Required Skills and Experience
- Emergency room experience.
- Group therapy, private practice exposure.
- Individual, family and marriage counseling experience.
- Must possess skills necessary to assess patients of all ages.
- Ability to communicate with appropriate nomenclature when reviewing patients with physicians.
- Knowledge of all programs within the Prisma Health System.
- Ability to type and complete Clinical Documentation on the computerized documentation system.
