Licensed Veterinary Technician

Carnegie Hill Veterinarians is looking for an Experienced Veterinary Technician who enjoys working with companion animals to join our team! Full time and part time positions available. We are a client service focused facility and strive to provide individualized care and treatment to our patients and boarders. Under the supervision of associate veterinarians, Experienced Veterinary Technicians provided routine medical treatment and care of animals to include all medical and surgical procedures.

Duties will include:

– IV catheter placement

– Venipuncture

– Emergency triage

– Blood pressure monitoring

– Filling in-house medications

– Nail trims

– Drawing and administering vaccines

– Anal gland expression

– Prescription medication and fluid therapy calculation

– Preparing samples for cytology

– Safe restraint of cats and dogs

– Performing in-house lab work and preparing lab work to be sent out

– Surgery preparation and monitoring anesthesia

– Dental Prophylaxis

Other Duties/Qualifications:

– Accurately entering in charges

– Understands the needs of occasionally nervous, painful or unhappy patients, and be able to express compassionate and professional behavior in occasionally difficult circumstances

– Excellent communication skills (written and oral); Must be proficient in reading, writing, math, phone skills and computer skills

– Knowledge of vaccine protocols, preventatives, and general animal care

– Ability to work and learn in a fast-paced environment

– Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Have at least 1 year of technician experience at a veterinary practice

Salary: Commensurate with experience
