JOB TITLE:
Clinical Informatics Analyst

DEPARTMENT: Nursing Administration

REPORTS TO: Chief Nursing Officer

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt


JOB SUMMARY
:

Works collaboratively with all Hospital Departments to problem solving issues related to Nursing Clinical Information Systems. Responsible for the communication, documentation, implementation and maintenance of the Clinical Information System. Primarily responsible for the information systems for all Nursing functions, as well as other directories. Participates in the design and implementation of the Clinical Information System (CIS) and associated software, interfaces, and processes. Participates in and/or facilitates the in-service and computer training of current and incoming clinical staff, physicians, and ancillary staff. Works closely with MIS and departmental personnel involved in the support of other clinical, ancillary and related areas

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads/participates in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of all clinical systems. Maintains an up-to-date understanding of the process involved in these activities.
  • Participants in the process of revising and implementing changes in both the automated and manual components of the Nursing Clinical Information System (CIS). Respond appropriately to requests and concerns from users or others affected by the system.
  • Provides proactive user support of the CIS including but not limited to training and education. Assist in evaluation and development of training and in-service programs.
  • Participates in systems analysis and research relate to the CIS.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of:
    • Current trends and issues in health care, nursing practice, Healthcare Informatics, and JACHO standards
    • Clinical applications currently in use and their relationship to other Meditech/Iatric Information Systems
  • Takes immediate action to meet customer request or needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge of operational policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates both knowledge and application of AMH policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning for self and staff.
  • Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application.
  • Assists in development and organization of educational training programs and conducts in-services. Coordinates the assurance of proficiency within clinical service areas and interfacing services for each new application installed to ensure applications are utilized for maximum efficiency.
  • Initiates collaboration with others in the development and updates to CIS.
  • Keeps up to date on current Regulatory rulings for Critical Access Hospitals regarding Meaningful Use.
  • Concurrently audits hospital compliance with meaningful use; reporting to CNO when established goals are not met.
  • Works in collaboration with CNO to ensure timely reporting of meaningful use.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance, and coordination of clinical and physician information systems.
  • Submits payroll accurately via Kronos System on employees/contact employees according to designated times.
  • Performs Clinical Leader duties as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works collaboratively with the Nurse Leadership Council to guide nursing clinical practice.

  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
  • Follows facility and GHR Unusual Occurrence Protocol
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • 5 years of previous clinical experience in nursing preferred
  • Knowledge of clinical practice, nursing administration, and human relations preferred

License/Certifications:

  • RN License in NC
  • BSN Preferred
  • Current CPR Certification.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
  • Strong written and verbal skills

Other Skills:

  • Advanced computer knowledge preferred.
  • Understand technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals, and labels.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping and documentation of employee information/activities.
  • Uses proper communication skills when interacting with others.
  • Ability to move from one area of work to another without difficulty.
  • Ability to critique employee job performance in a constructive manner
