Research Associate I – Muir Lab – Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia – Philadelphia, PA

The Muir Lab aims to improve the lives of children with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) and prevent its devastating consequences such as fibrosis. Our research emphasizes the dynamic interplay between the epithelium, fibroblasts, and immune cells to pursue a detailed understanding of homeostatic signaling mechanisms maintaining the barrier function of esophageal mucosa. The lab uses 3-dimensional in vitro models (patient-derived organoids, air-liquid interphase) and in vivo models of allergic disease, in addition to heavily utilizing patient-derived biopsies and serum specimens. Within this context we investigate the heterogeneity of the basal zone in esophageal epithelium and the role of lysil oxidase in mediating the cross-talk between different cell types within the tissue.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree and three (3) or more scientifically relevant experience.

Candidates with a Terminal Degree (MD, PhD, DVM) and one (1) year Post-Doctoral Fellowship experience preferred.
