Part-Time Medical Office Assistant – Community Access Network – Lynchburg, VA

Community Access Network is seeking an experienced Medical Office Assistant with a passion for community-based care.

The Medical Office Assistant provides customer service and secretarial support, including patient appointment scheduling, assisting patients to apply for services, maintaining confidential electronic health records, answering telephones, routing callers to appropriate staff person and other general office duties. Works with others in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • At least 2 years’ customer service experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a medical office setting.
  • Must have strong computer knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and electronic health records. Able to type routine correspondence and reports using personal computer.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and in small group situations to patients and other employees.
  • Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide. Ability to perform this operations using units of American money and weight measurement.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • 15-20 hours a week. Weekend hours 8:30 am – 12:30 pm. Monday-Friday evening hours 5:00 pm-8:30 pm.

  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour
