This position is responsible for providing substantive and administrative support for the paralegal needs of the Legal Division, with particular focus on the Claims & Litigation Department. The individual will handle responses to subpoenas and other demands, including document collection for production; assist with discovery responses, including production and redaction; track litigation, IP, licensing, and other key metrics; develop process and procedure for key activities; oversee calendaring and docketing functions to ensure deadlines are met; and execute special projects and responsibilities as assigned. This individual will work closely with attorneys to ensure exceptional service and support is being provided to our internal and external clients. Other duties may include: support and provide back up for adjacent roles.

Your role::

  • Work with and support in-house attorneys in performing their legal duties.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for key issues and metrics such as litigation, intellectual property assets, business and other licenses, etc.
  • Organize and maintain copies of legal documents and files.
  • Oversee company responses to document demands (subpoenas, requests for document production, investigative demands, orders, etc.)
  • Support corporate governance and due diligence needs and requests.
  • Act as lead on all aspects of corporate document collection and production, including coordinating involvement with necessary personnel and departments.
  • Oversee calendaring and docketing functions to control workflow, ensure deadlines are met, and proactively anticipate upcoming needs.
  • Interact with outside attorneys and paralegals.
  • Proofread and finalize legal documents such as pleadings, leases, agreements, legal correspondence, etc.
  • Develop and execute on processes and procedures for the Legal Division.
  • Prepare reports covering various items as requested by attorneys, auditors, business partners, and others.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Draft memoranda, letters, and/or e-mails as needed to facilitate proper communication.
  • Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned

Your qualifications::

  • Self-starter, sound professional judgment and strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and client relations skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and improve processes and procedures
  • Work well under deadlines, manage time effectively, and track short and long-term deadlines
  • Ability to act independently and anticipate needs and issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information

Education & Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate
  • At least 5-7 years of applicable experience
  • At least 3-5 years of experience at a law firm or a corporate legal department
  • Strong understanding of litigation and legal processes

Preferred:

  • Understanding of corporate governance, medical practice claims, intellectual property, and other legal issues
