Children’s Therapy Center is seeking an Education Assistant to join our Boost Program! As a member of the team serving both our Kent and Burien sites, our Education Assistant work collaboratively our Special Educators, Family Navigators and Therapy Providers to offer services, programs, and supports geared toward kindergarten readiness. Our Education Assistant will support special instruction services for preschool aged children, ages 3 – 5, including inclusive classes, one on one visits, and parenting supports. As a part of the team, they will aid in gathering data to monitor Boost program effectiveness and success.

Job Description


Primary Responsibilities

  • Create, utilize and support play-based learning opportunities to enhance children’s social-emotional and intellectual development; foster and support children’s independence in the classroom
  • Support specific educational, behavioral, and communication objectives for student-Boost program participants
  • Provide classroom, child-care and family support; assist educators, and facilitate activities during classes and other group activities.
  • Work with students to develop communication skills; facilitate integration of students with age-group peers.
  • Provide personal care or assist students with toileting, and support toilet training goals for independence
  • Plan, organize, and prepare classroom and therapy materials and activities
  • Take inventory of supplies and assist in ordering replacement supplies
  • Attend and participate in education curriculum and program planning meetings
  • Administrative and office support including but not limited to managing and creating paperwork for Parent Packets, copying, scanning, coordinating volunteers, and other tasks as assigned
  • Observe and utilize professional medical/safety precautions
  • Maintain classroom, and building cleanliness and organization

Qualifications


Demonstrable Experience and Other Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience working with families and young children in a multi-cultural setting preferred, or highly motivated to learn
  • Creative thinker who is organized and can anticipate and meet the needs of staff and families
  • Dedicated to quality, with a willingness to learn and share
  • Experience working with children with developmental delay or disability preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively with parents, staff and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain these certifications upon offer, per-employment
  • Bilingual a plus (sought-after languages include Spanish, Vietnamese, Somali, Amharic)

Additional information

Our Boost Education Assistant position is grant-funded and new to our organization. The role will support both our Kent and Burien children and families, and will work across both sites: Monday and Wednesday in Burien, Tuesday and Thursday in Kent. On Friday’s the worksite will be determined based on the Program needs.
