Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities, Operations & Events (FO&E) serves as the department leader for FO&E and reports to the Associate Athletic Director, FO&E. This individual is responsible for directly managing the athletic department’s event operations and game day staff for an athletic program with 20 varsity sports. He/she will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordinating, and managing of all competitions, events or functions using Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) indoor and outdoor facilities, including the Xfinity Center and Maryland Stadium. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing all game day operations for home athletic events; overseeing the scheduling of ICA facilities for all internal and external events, including rental agreements, support services, equipment and overall event management; football game administration and men’s basketball game administration; assisting in future facility enhancement projects; and managing all department keys, locks, phones, parking, security, and daily operations of ICA facilities. This individual will supervise a staff of approximately 5-6 full time employees, and will serve as the liaison to the University’s Recreation & Wellness department as well as Office of Sustainability and Emergency Management and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of four (4) years of supervisory experience in an events operations position is required.

Preferences:

Demonstrated, successful managerial experience in collegiate athletics, especially at the NCAA Division I level is preferred. Oversight of game operations of large Athletic assembly facilities (i.e., Stadium and Arenas) is preferred.

The scope of the position requires frequent weekend and evening work (Non-standard work hours) as well as some travel. While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 25 pounds.
