POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Specialist provides technical and operational support of the Business LAN network for refinery and field locations server environments. The successful candidate must understand business requirements and translate these requirements into solutions. The IT Specialist must work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary workgroups to seek solutions to problems. The individual must champion compliance and change efforts which result in improved reliability and security of infrastructure services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform fieldwork inside the refinery process units.
- Perform network administration and troubleshooting for Layer 2 switching with some occasional Layer 3 work.
- Monitor network device health and identify issues using common industry toolsets.
- Identify, analyze, and elevate potential Cybersecurity events according to company procedures.
- Plan and implement hardware refresh of network equipment.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation for the network.
- Create and present project documentation for capital and expense projects.
- Problem tracking, management, and resolution of issues in a 24/7 manufacturing location. The candidate will be called upon to perform duties during off-hours on occasion as needed.
- Daily activities may include network device backup administration, performance tuning, change control administration, network security detection administration, formulating continuous improvement opportunities, and self-auditing to ensure compliance with standards.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of experience in an information technology role required.
- Prior experience in network configuration and design experience preferred.
- Previous experience with network logging, monitoring tools, Cisco devices preferred.
- Cisco certifications are a plus.

- Ability to demonstrate a firm understanding of computing security and reliability practices.
- Employee must be able to obtain a TWIC.
