Clinical Psychologist – The Geneva Foundation – Augusta, GA

Overview:

The Clinical Psychologist will conduct psychological evaluations and will provide individual and group psychotherapy for PTSD. In addition, the Clinical Psychologist will collaborate with the behavioral health team to recruit participants and implement treatment programs.

Location: This position is located on base at Eisenhower Army Medical Center (EAMC) in Augusta, GA.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts diagnostic interviews to determine eligibility to receive treatment in this study and consent all eligible participants
  • Complete a comprehensive assessment battery to determine the presence of PTSD as a primary diagnosis
  • Conducts psychological evaluations and provides individual and group psychotherapy for active duty service members with PTSD
  • Provides specified randomized psychological treatments as defined in the protocol; Trauma Management Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and compressed PE
  • Utilizes techniques which are evidence-based and demonstrates ethical clinical practice
  • Refers cases requiring outpatient or inpatient treatment that are beyond the scope of the Department of Behavioral Health
  • Participates in supervision of clinical cases on a weekly basis with Drs. Neer and Tuerk
  • Participates in conjoint emergency treatment with medical facility mental health personnel
  • Works with on-site staff and research team on recruitment strategies and carries them out
  • Maintains timely and accurate computerized records of client interactions, assessment, treatment plans, and other information pertinent to comprehensive client treatment and case management, as well as personal daily work activity
  • Collect data to examine differences in attrition and the emergence of potential adverse events that may accompany intensive treatments such as increased suicidal ideation or increased substance use
  • Conducts psychosocial evaluations and provides therapeutic interventions as supervised and approved by study personnel
  • Participate in networking with providers for referrals at the work site

Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology required
  • Completion of an APA accredited doctoral program and internship
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
  • Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
  • Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or the ability to be licensed in the state of Georgia, required
