You will work in an environment with a diverse group of experienced professionals to foster and support the safety, soundness, and vitality of our economic and financial systems. It is a challenge that demands the skills of a financial service professional and the intelligence of an academic—all combined with a passion for public service.

What we do:

The Wholesale Product Office (WPO) operates a critical financial services business on behalf of the Federal Reserve System (FRS). The WPO oversees the management, operation, support and development of wholesale services (Fedwire Funds Service, Fedwire Securities Service and National Settlement Service), which includes developing new services, service enhancements, and pricing models.

Wholesale services are systemically important financial market infrastructures (FMIs) and are central in supporting settlement for other systemically important private-sector FMIs. Further, as a central bank-operated business, wholesale services faces unique challenges akin to a private-sector business but overlaid with a financial stability mission and an evolving supervisory landscape for systemically important FMIs.

Your role as a Business Planning Associate:

  • Collect, analyze and synthesize information gathered from reports and subject matter experts to develop quarterly and ad hoc reporting that covers the wholesale services business, including the business strategy, project, technology, operations, and oversight components for senior and executive management
  • Lead the planning activities required to move WPO’s major strategic initiatives forward and socialize with appropriate governance and oversight entities
  • Support the annual strategic planning process
  • Develop agenda topics and presentation content for senior and executive management; and
  • Build relationships and maintain collaboration within the function, group and across the FRS.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or related field;
  • Five years of relevant work experience ideally in a role that required a strategic and governance related viewpoint across different business dimensions/goals
  • Knowledge of U.S. payments systems and the Fed’s role in financial stability, preferred
  • Familiarity with FRS governance is a plus
  • Experience gathering, analyzing and summarizing information for executive level review
  • Background applying and summarizing information from different sources with the ability to see the big picture and connect the dots
  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills evidenced by an ability to take initiative and ownership of an assignment, with experience managing multiple deliverables
  • Experience creating concise and compelling communications for different audiences
