GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Situated on the historic Mormon Trail and near the Oregon and California trails along the North Platte River banks, Torrington, Wyoming. The area and the city is rich in American history.

This position maintains and upgrades the institutional surveillance equipment, telephones, intercom, CCTV, security fencing, central fire/smoke detection system, and various Wyoming Medium Correctional Institutions’ electronic systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed at the job level.

  • Repairs, build and maintains complex electronic equipment.
  • Maintains and diagnostics hardware and software.
  • Replaces damaged parts; inspects and diagnoses specific problems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance, emergency repair and troubleshooting, modifications, utility locates, operation, software maintenance, and oversees initial operations.
  • May provide advanced training to less experienced specialists.
  • May assist or oversee contractors’ installation.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and document and repair roadside lighting.

Qualifications

PREFERENCES:

Preference may be given to those candidates with a current Low Voltage General License.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Basic hand tool use and knowledge.
  • Ability to read and use a digital multi-meter.
  • Ability to perform the job in a safe manner.
  • Proper training in basic first-aid and CPR.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree


Experience:

0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Some agencies may require a valid Class C driver’s license.


OR


Education & Experience Substitution:

3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May work in extreme weather and may involve heavy lifting
  • Works at heights of 40 feet and below out of a bucket or lift truck
  • Climbing on an occasional to regular basis
  • Lifting/grasping up to 50 pounds without assistance on a regular basis
  • Walking on cement floors on an occasional to regular basis
  • Walking up and down stairs on a regular basis
  • Balancing on an occasional basis
  • Stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching on a regular basis
  • Crawling on an occasional basis
  • Reaching on a regular basis
