Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN)
Yale Medicine – ENT Clinic
General Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Practice Supervisor or designee, perform specific duties to support a busy ENT medical practice.
Essential Duties:
- Obtains and documents patient histories and medical information.
- Assists with medical and minor surgical procedures. Assesses, reports, and records vital signs and measurements. Collects specimens.
- Observes patients for physical or emotional changes. Reports observations.
- Prepares examining rooms. Selects, sets up and maintains medical supplies and equipment.
- Maintains a comfortable, orderly, safe and clean environment for patients.
- Responds to medical emergencies. Records patient information.
- Prepares patients for continuing care after treatment.
- May instruct clinical staff.
- May serve as a source of information on nursing matters pertaining to section.
- May administer medications under direction and authority of a licensed professional medical provider.
- Schedules and coordinates appointments.
- Performs additional functions incidental to nursing activities.
Skills and Qualification:
- Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, multi-specialty physician practice
- Highly motivated team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to be flexible and to learn new procedures, processes, and medical specialties.
- Ability to train medical assistants, providing clarity and leadership.
- Strong, accurate computer data entry skills associated with documenting medical information into electronic medical records.
- Demonstrated communication skills both written and oral, to effectively inform and understand physician instructions and patient needs.
- License as a Practical Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Graduation from a State approved program of practical nurse education.
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds.
- Current CPR certification required
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability
- Professional demeanor and attire
- Ability to resolve problems collaboratively and independently.
- Preferred: Working knowledge of Epic scheduling system
Experience:
Four years of related work experience, two of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and a high school level education; or two years of related work experience and an Associate degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Pay: $22.00 – $29.00 per hour
