Maintenance Worker – Calumet County, WI – Chilton, WI

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school in building maintenance; four to five years experience in building cleaning and maintenance work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the County.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required.

The following certifications desired:

  • Journeyman Electrician
  • HVAC
  • Plumbing


Special Requirement

On-call for weekend rotation for snow removal and remains on call twenty-four hours a day for emergency repairs during the absence of the Facilities Director.

Other Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of building cleaning and maintenance materials and equipment.

Some knowledge of the tools and methods used in various mechanical and building trades.

Some knowledge of occupational hazards and safe work practices.

Ability to use power and hand tools.

Ability to learn and utilize computerized equipment including energy management system.

Ability to work independently and establish and meet work deadlines.

Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships.

Ability to maintain accurate and complete records.

Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor and routine cleaning tasks.
