Medical Instructor – SSU – Trenton, NJ

SSU is currently recruiting for Medical Instructors to provide instruction in the classroom, ranges and training facilities in the latest Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) that support the USAF Expeditionary Operations School (EOS) mission.

Location: Joint Base McGuire Dix, NJ

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Perform Medical Instruction/demonstration and student evaluations as required by the syllabi and Plan of Instruction (POI)

· Will comply with USAF EOSI 36-100, Academic Standards, Policies and Procedures.

· Perform instruction/demonstration and student evaluations as required by the syllabi and lesson plans.

· Prepare classroom for instruction and ensure academic equipment, projectors, televisions, computer learning stations, etc., including uploading of computer-based training, if applicable, are functional.

· Produce, assemble, and manage student materials as required to include paper and/or electronic (DVDs, etc.) based training materials provided by the Government.

· Provide technical support, planning, consultation, analysis and expert advice to establish, maintain, and improve their respective area’s instruction.

· Responsible for setup, use, issue, sign out/return, reconstitution and inventory devices/equipment used during the course and other associated administrative tasks as assigned.

· Be able to lead student in-processing, equipment issue and turn-in at the beginning/end of courses or anytime during the course.

Qualifications:

· Have a minimum of four (4) years of military experience in a military career field that is responsible for providing medical services to deployed forces, such as Independent Duty Medical Technician (USAF IDMT), Combat Medic, or U.S.N Corpsman (HM) with deployed experience supporting combat forces.

· Meet one of the following qualifications: licensed paramedic (state or national), Medical Doctor (MD), physician’s Assistant (PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or current (within the last 12 months) Army Military Occupational Specialty 68W, Health Care Specialist; or 18D, Special Operations Medical Sergeant.

· Maintain a certificate from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or equivalent credentialing agency.

· 5-10 years of military experience

· USAF, US Army or Special Operations veteran

· Have a valid driver’s license and be capable of driving government furnished vehicles in day and night conditions.

· Capable of successfully completing training and certification in the use of pyrotechnics to be used during training courses.

· May be required to participate as members of a Mobile Training Team (MTT) and provide instruction at an off-site/alternative learning location in addition to providing instruction at the EC.

· Be physically capable of instructing/supporting students in field conditions that may include low light, smoke, percussion, small arms fire (live fire target range, blanks and dye marking cartridges), insects, in uneven terrain under all weather conditions for multiple consecutive days wearing load bearing equipment (i.e. body armor, appropriate helmet, similar equipment to student requirements, etc.) and or carrying training aides or equipment.

· Instructors must be physically capable of lifting 50lbs unassisted and running 500 feet (not simultaneously).

· Have current certifications from the American Heart Association or equivalent and shall have the capability to recognize the signs and symptoms requiring first aid and perform basic first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) as well as show proof of current training on AED.
