Summary of Duties:
Responsible for performing coding for reimbursement. Responsible for reviewing the medical record for accurate coding and assuring compliance with federal/state and other regulatory entities. Responsible for ensuring proper documentation and accurate CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding validation. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must possess a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate. Possesses advanced work-related skills beyond completion of high school, including written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, technical or health care related knowledge frequently acquired through completion of a licensed skilled trade, para-profession or practical business knowledge. Job duties require knowledge and training in the field of medical terminology, typically acquired through a formal Associates degree in medical records coding. Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word. Ability to use Microsoft Excel
Licenses & Certifications: Requires AAPC (Academy of Professional Coders)-CPC or CPC-A Certification; AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association)-CCS Certification; or PMI (Practice Management Institute)–CMC Certification.
