The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado is encouraging applications for a spacecraft systems engineer/operator to develop and operate state‐of‐the‐art space mission systems for present and upcoming NASA space science projects. This individual will work closely with scientists, engineers, and other space system mission operators in the development, operation, and maintenance of spacecraft mission operations.

LASP is one of the top space science research institutes in the country with facilities in Boulder, Colorado employing approximately 500 scientists, engineers, support personnel, and students.
- Develop scripts and maintain procedures for testing and mission operations.
- Conduct real time spacecraft/satellite/instrument flight operations.
- Assist with the integration and functional test of the flight and ground segments of the mission.
- Troubleshoot and investigate mission anomalies.
- Troubleshoot problems with operations systems.
- Utilize system software to accomplish all payload control tasks and recommend improvements.
- Analyze and validate software functions to meet specific mission requirements.
- Perform routine trend analysis on spacecraft telemetry.

- Support on-call operations during off-hours (nights, holidays, and weekends) as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, computer science, a physical science, or related field.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform basic programming tasks such as writing scripts, shell scripting.
- Experience working in and leading small teams.
- Knowledge of spacecraft operations.
- Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX.
- Knowledge of computer programming/software.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in spacecraft/space instrument engineering or operations.
