Manager, Compliance – North Memorial Healthcare – Robbinsdale, MN

About this position

The Compliance Manager reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and provides day to day oversight and operation of the Compliance Program and Compliance team members. The Manager asists the Chief Compliance Officer with creating and implementing the annual Compliance Work Plan and Audit Plan.

The Compliance Manager’s role is critical to maintaining transparency in the Compliance Program and fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization. The Manager works closely with team members throughout the organization at all levels to identify compliance issues, facilitate productive problem-solving discussions, and effectively mitigate compliance risks.


What we’ll expect from you

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of organizational Code of Conduct, compliance policies and procedures, as well as relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and health industry best practices.
  • Exercises good judgement and skill related to researching topics and providing sound regulatory interpretation.
  • Acts as an effective communication conduit throughout the organization.
  • Develops, implements and tracks compliance policies and procedures, as well as training and educational communications.
  • Participates on operational compliance/regulatory committees and actively engages in the development, implementation and management of compliance activities under the purview of these committees.
  • Supervises and oversees the day-to-day operations of all compliance team members and functions including administration of the system-wide policy management software.
  • Manages compliance auditing activities, including delegation of audit activities to compliance staff.
  • Coordinates, directs, and/or conducts internal compliance investigations throughout the organization, including compiling reports with recommendations to the Chief Compliance Officer and leadership.
  • Creates compliance communications and training materials.
  • Assists in managing contracted compliance auditors.
  • Coordinates with selected Legal Counsel (internal or external) as necessary to research and make recommendations regarding compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Develops and implements corrective action plans, as well as monitors corrective action plans.
  • Develops and measures Compliance Program metrics.
  • Assists Chief Compliance Officer with developing compliance reports for executive leadership and governing body.
  • Conducts other related activities and duties as assigned.
  • Achieves key customer care, financial and/or operational outcomes as found in annual work plan.
  • Leverages and adheres to systems and processes that drive accountability for customer care, financial and operational outcomes.
  • Works effectively with team colleagues and other key partners to execute divisional and/or departmental initiatives and day-to-day operations.
  • Effectively communicates with teammates and key partners.
  • Develops talent within the team, including acquiring, engaging and retaining.
  • Staffs, organizes and schedules the team to leverage maximum labor productivity.
  • Understands, tracks and focuses the team on metrics that measure key business outcomes.
  • Translates business support vision and strategies to team level and engages and empowers team members to meet customer’s needs in innovative ways.

Education

  • Minimum of Associates degree in health care, finance, or other related field required.
  • Healthcare Compliance Certification (or willingness to pursue certification), preferred.


Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Six (6) or more years of experience in a healthcare compliance role required.
  • Three (3) or more years of leadership/management experience required.
  • Extensive knowledge of health care operations, systems, and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of health care regulations and compliance program operations.
  • Ability to work with various individuals across the organization to facilitate change and build interdepartmental cooperation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
