Compliance Specialist – North Memorial Healthcare – Robbinsdale, MN

About this position

The Compliance Specialist helps implement the strategic and tactical goals of the NMH Compliance Program including organizational policy management and document control processes. The position reports to the Compliance Manager and assists with day to day operaton of the compliance program and oversees organizational policy and procedure processes related to policy creation, review, approval, maintenance and revision. The Compliance Specialist role is critical to developing and maintaining processes that support regulatory compliance and foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization. The Compliance Specialist works closely with team members throughout the organization to effectively identify and mitigate compliance risks.


What we’ll expect from you

  • Maintaining an in-depth understanding of organizational Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, as well as relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and health industry best practices.
  • Exercising good judgement and skill related to compliance program research and regulatory interpretation.
  • Monitoring organizational compliance with Compliance Program policies and procedures, including but not limited to OIG/GSA exclusion screening policy, gift policy, conflict of interest policy, and business associate agreement policies.
  • Working closely with compliance committees/compliance liaisons to implement compliance activities.
  • Assisting operational departments with ongoing compliance monitoring activities.
  • Conducting compliance auditing and investigation activities and development and implementation of compliance corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Manages the system-wide policy management software, including performing policy inventory and gap analysis duties to ensure policies are consistent and non-duplicative throughout the organization.
  • Trains staff throughout the organization on process expectations related to policies, procedures, and standard work documents.
  • Works with management throughout the organization to ensure compliance with policy drafting, review/approval, and implementation expectations.
  • Facilitates team and committee meetings related to policy approval and implementation, with assistance from the Compliance Manager and Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Develops and maintains processes to monitor policies and procedures that are approaching renewal deadline, as well as monitors overdue policies.
  • Accepts other duties as assigned to promote the accomplishment of organizational goals.

Education

  • High school/GED required.
  • Associates degree in health care, finance or other related field preferred.


Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of health system operations and processes.
  • Knowledge of health care regulations and compliance program operations.
  • Ability to work with various individuals across the organization to facilitate change and build interdepartmental cooperation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Licensure/Certification(s) Preferred

HCCA CCB: CHC preferred
