Position Summary:

The Group Facilitator is responsible for providing group counseling services to individuals with a Substance Use Disorder under supervision and based on evidence-based practices. The Counselor/Therapist will work with individuals, families, and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health while in recovery from chemical dependency.

Essential Job Duties:

Deliver substance use disorder group clinical services under supervision;

Provide group or family counseling according to established principles and best practices;

Provide intervention/treatments, conduct individual and group counseling, and utilized evidence-based therapy;

May provide clinical support and participate in providing in-service training to other treatment team members;

Select appropriate counseling methods to maximize treatment process and outcomes;

Select methods of counseling/treatment to be employed and provide group and family counseling services;

Facilitate patient evidence-based curriculum groups;

May provide various other services as needed including but not limited to case management;

Assure documentation is completed in compliance with contract regulatory agency requirements and best clinical practices;

Remain current in the general knowledge of psychotropic medications, side effects, and DSM V/ICD-9/ICD-10, and recognize and make medical referrals when needed;

Evaluate family roles as they apply and organize a family’s perspective and behavior in assisting patient’s recovery;

Coordinate patient care with other team members, including physician, nurse practitioner, and/or psychiatrist;

Complete documentation utilizing the agency’s designated Electronic Medical Record, within specified timeframe;

Provide crisis interventions and de-escalation techniques; and

Attend required meetings including but not limited to, individual supervision and quarterly in-service.


Required Education/Degree:

Master’s Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree may be considered

Required Certification/License:

Independent Licensure preferred (LPCC, LCSW, LCADC, CSW, LPCA, CADC)
