JOB PURPOSE:
The Physical Therapist Assistant performs such patient-related activities as are assigned and supervised by a licensed Physical Therapist and/or designee manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs patient-related activities as assigned by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Executes pre-planned treatment programs, such as therapeutic exercise, massage, electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, range of motion, and other pre-planned treatment programs as designed by a Physical Therapist.
- Documents all statistical data as required.
- Provides clinical supervision of Rehabilitation Attendants.
- Documents all pertinent patient information as required.
- Consults with a physiatrist, physical therapist, and other professionals when appropriate.
- Maintain a high standard of health care and clinical practice through attendance at professional seminars and continuing education courses.
- Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team in developing a patient care plan.
- Co-leads wheelchair clinic for ADHC registrants.
- Participates in scheduled meetings including rehab meetings, staff meeting, and inter-disciplinary meetings.
- Participates in clinical education of student affiliates.
- Reports pertinent information to Rehab Manager regarding orthotic and prosthetic adaptations.
- Participates in obtaining equipment for patients’ home use.
- Maintenance of supplies, equipment, and assistive devices.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area and department.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Associate Degree from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program plus certification by NYS as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
Experience:
None required beyond education.
License Registration:
- New York State Certified. Current Registration
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to utilize pulleys, free weights, exercise bicycles, Kinetron, treadmill, UBE, TENS, MENS, High Volt Stimulator, Ultrasound, hot packs, cold packs, Paraffin, and whirlpool tank as part of patient treatment.
- Must be able to work weekends, as needed.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.

- Proficient in the use of a computer for email, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and electronic medical records.
