Arbor Springs of West Des Moines, the leader in dementia care, is seeking to fill openings for a Cook and Dietary Aide. This is a full time position. We are conveniently located 1 block West of Jordan Creek Mall. These positions offer a unique opportunity to work with a dedicated professional staff in a home like environment.
Responsibilities of this position include but not limited to:
Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner. Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance, with strict adherence to written recipes, menus, an individual diet orders, including: Food items on assigned/scheduled menus; Special items/meals/snacks/therapeutic or modified diets; Special nourishment’s/supplements as instructed by dietary services manager; labels with resident name; Refreshments for parties/special events as instructed by dietary services manager. Adhere to food production and usage schedules. Log and/or record temperatures of food storage as requested, i.e., refrigerators, freezers, dry storage. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets. Follow menus and prepare food and beverages. Organize duties to complete meal service in a timely manner. Assure kitchen equipment and surfaces are clean and sanitized according to dietary procedures. Store food in compliance with dietary procedures.
Education/Certification/License
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience * Demonstrated skills in quantity food preparation and service is preferred.
Physical Requirements/Demands : This position requires standing, walking, crouching, reaching, bending, and using hands to handle, feel, and grasp regularly. This position must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
