We are looking for an energetic and dynamic medical assistant to join our team.
As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office/hospital. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Organize and schedule appointments
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports
- Arrange hospital procedures, laboratory services and radiology studies.
- Check in patients and type up patients charts.
- Assist during medical examinations
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Look up patient insurance eligibility before appointments if needed.
- Collect copays and dues from patients at check in.
- Prepare and sanitize treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Receive phone calls from patients and communicate messages to and from the physicians.
- Obtain outside records and scan them into EMR.
- Obtain prior authorizations.
- Lab draws/Phlebotomy.
Desired Skills
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant or medical secretary with strong references is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Proficiency in EMR and practice management software.
- Degree in medical assistance not required but would be preferred.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.00 – $20.00 per hour
