Schedule work for support staff: Schedule work for support staff ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate utilization of personnel, space, and facilities for the subsequent performance of duties.

Participate in the development of nursing: Participate in the development of nursing and/or research policies and procedures.

Coordinate a program of continuing education: Coordinate a program of continuing education and training for support staff.

Perform other related duties: Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Assist staff personnel in developing: Assist staff personnel in developing professional skills and in selecting priorities for the delivery of nursing care; monitor progress of staff and assist with reorganization of units or projects as required.

Coordinate activities of support staff: Coordinate activities of support staff with other personnel and services engaged in caring for patients; may accompany physicians on rounds and/or advise other services of conditions or circumstances affecting patient care and/or research outcomes.

Render professionals nursing care and instruct patients: Render professional nursing care and instruct patients, study subjects and family members on techniques or methods of home care after discharge, and/or based on research goals and outcomes.

Assist in the selection, provision and control of material resources:
Assist in the selection, provision and control of material resources to include evaluating the quality of materials, setting standards for the required quantities of supplies and equipment and establishing procedures to prevent misuse and improper care of materials and equipment.

Direct the preparation and maintenance of patients: Direct the preparation and maintenance of patients’ clinical and/or research data records; ensure accurate inventory of medications, narcotics, and supplies.

Interpret and implement safety practices: Interpret and implement safety practices; set standards for support staff and others involved in the maintenance of sanitary and sterile conditions, and/or research institute protocols.

Provide technical guidance and direction to supportive nursing: Provide technical guidance and direction to supportive nursing/administrative staff, monitor and evaluate work performance to ensure compliance with established nursing standards and/or institutional guidelines governing the conduct of clinical research.

Supervise a variety of personnel actions: Supervise a variety of personnel actions which may include, but are not limited to, hiring, merit recommendations, promotions, transfers, vacation schedules, sick leaves, and dismissals.
