The Trauma Services Victim Specialist (TSVS) will provide care management and coordination of Trauma services and forensic response team services to child and youth trauma victims and their families served through the Sacred Child Services, Wind River Family and Community Health Care System. The TVSS will make arrangements with all necessary parties to insure timely, coordinated and compassionate trauma response team supports that may include arranging for forensic assessment (physical, psychological). The TVSS will support integrated cross-departmental and cross- system trauma-informed services, policies and protocols. The TVSS will work directly with Northern Arapaho Department of Family Services, Sacred Child Services and other clinical providers, justice system, law enforcement, schools, and social agencies in the coordination of necessary appointments, care plans and meetings. The TVSS will provide staff support for multidisciplinary team meetings and may be asked to be a member on the team for children/’youth served.

This position involves working with multi-problem children or families with complex needs which is often crisis oriented and unpredictable. Hours are variable and may include evening and weekend assessments as well as on-call assignments. The TSVS shall demonstrate the highest standard of personal integrity, honesty, and truthfulness in all professional and personal dealings and demonstrate the highest standard of personal integrity, honesty, and truthfulness in all professional and personal dealings.

Assists with public awareness/education information of services;

Assist the Sacred Child Services Director in arranging for necessary case staffing and perform case management duties as assigned.

The TVSS is under the direct supervision of Director, Sacred Child Services or his supervisor designee. The supervisor sets all standards of work performance, develops deadlines and benchmarks for the work that needs to be completed. The TVSS will perform the general and specific job duties of the position, maintains strict confidentiality of all client/patient information including all requirements of the applicable Privacy Laws including public health hybrid provisions of the Patient Protection and Accountability Act and Health Information Patient Protection Act, educational privacy provision of FERPA and IDEA, tribal, state, and federal laws and policies related to child abuse/neglect and children court/juvenile court confidentiality and established policies. The supervisor is kept informed of progress and potential issues. The work is reviewed in terms of effectiveness in meeting expected results

Guidelines include Sacred Child Services, WRFCHCS policies, procedures, and manuals, as well as federal and state regulations, which may have gaps in specificity and protocols recommended by The National Child Advocacy Center for child advocacy center. Judgment is required in applying the guidelines and making minor deviations to adapt the guidelines to specific cases.

The work requires knowledge of principles & practices in childhood trauma, social work and integrated systems approaches to health care delivery. Knowledge of the Peoples of the Wind River Indian Reservation, tribal government structure and systems, including its health, welfare, and law enforcement/justice system is required. Must have a working knowledge of services to child victims of crime and children/youth and families in crisis, treatment and recovery. Community organization and advocacy skills are required. Must have the necessary knowledge and education to gain a thorough understanding of the existing patient population that WRFCHCS serves. Requires the ability and business knowledge to develop calendars, schedules, data collection reports, and informational/educational materials. Familiarity with laws and children and juvenile court procedures preferred. General phone skills, office equipment, word processing and computer skills are required.

The ability and skill to compile and write reports from various documents maintained within WRFCHC
Communication skills are required to effectively coordinate services between WRFCHCS and entities serving the Wind River Reservation.
Must have the ability to work under stressful situations and must be highly motivated to insure that the highest possible quality of care is made available to children.

Bachelor in Social Work, and certification preferred or certification to be sought as part of employment and experience in the field of child/youth trauma.
Supporting certifications such as BLS and other necessary competencies
