Senior Product Innovation Analyst – Quartz – Madison, WI

If so, please consider joining our brand-new Product Innovation Team as a Senior Product Innovation Analyst! This role will facilitate internal front-end vetting of product innovations, to include new segments, products and services that will support Quartz customers and lead to growth. Successful candidates will demonstrate solid knowledge of health insurance concepts, practices and procedures to collect, report and analyze data from a wide variety of sources to evaluate feasibility for implementation, financial stability and quality of product offerings, including financial, claims, population health, quality, risk reporting and analyses.

Responsibilities:

  • Review product innovation concepts to define the pain points or strategic objectives being addressed and understand how the innovation addresses those objectives through comprehensive data analysis.
  • Gather, interpret, and build requirements to create reports from various data sources across the organization. Collect, manipulate, and analyze data from multiple sources, draw accurate inferences, and present findings to various levels of staff and collaborate on outcomes.
  • Using BusinessObjects, SAS, or free-hand SQL, create report outputs to support strategic objectives related to product innovation.
  • Create compelling and effective charts, tables, presentations, and other visuals (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, etc.) that convey analytic results clearly and effectively.
  • Test reports with other analysts or technical experts (data analysts, database administrators, etc.) and document any variations. Recognize when information does not look correct and take initiative to correct. Dig deep to find explanations to test result inconsistencies. Identify and document root causes. Follow-up to revise reports with SMEs and technical experts and retest if necessary.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, serving as a SME on projects, gathering requirements and performing tasks to assess the feasibility of product innovations, characterize their commercial potential, and fit with Quartz sales strategies.
  • Enable product and innovation information pipelines and reporting that drive sustained growth. Identify opportunities where the effectiveness and/or efficiency of reports, processes or controls can be improved and recommend corrective action.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience with business intelligence and data analytics tools
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field; equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a four-year degree
  • Prior experience in product innovation, product management, or project management preferred
  • Proficiency and demonstrated skill with query tools (BusinessObjects, SAS, SQL Developer, Aginity, Impact Intelligence.) Understanding of SQL programs and ability to explain and manipulate them.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare claims payment systems, industry standard reimbursement methodologies (i.e. Medicare and Medicaid), Health Insurance Marketplace, ACOs and PPACA rules, regulations, quality programs & measures, and key industry codes & acronyms.
  • Strong problem solving and documentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Curiosity and interest in learning new software, systems, tools
  • Access to a stable, high-speed, non-satellite Internet connection
