NURSING ASSISTANT/UNIT SECRETARY – Bayhealth – Milford, DE

The Nursing Assistant/Unit Secretary (NA/US) position involves the delivery of clinical nursing assistant services to patients. The NA/US functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse or therapist who provides care which does not require the judgment and skills of a licensed professional. After competency verification, the nursing assistant may deliver patient care services to the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

The care may include, but is not limited to, the following: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, ambulating, transferring, feeding, observing, and reporting the general well-being of the person(s) to whom they are providing care. Coordinates clerical duties of a diverse and confidential nature to maintain efficiency of patient care areas.

Minimum Education and Experience:

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification required. Nursing Student who has completed first rotation of clinicals or completed a formalized Nursing Assistant training program required. Successful completion of a medical terminology class, Blood Glucose Monitory training and HIPAA training preferred. Six (6) months experience in providing basic care to patients in a clinical setting preferred. Basic CPR Certification required. Must be eligible for certification as a Nursing Assistant; Certified as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Delaware preferred. Must have basic computer skills; Familiarity with STAR ordering system preferred.

Must also have:


  • Data Entry


  • Medical Terminology


  • The ability to work independently


  • Experience performing clerical procedures to include answering phones and filing.


  • Excellent customer service skills.


  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
