Lead Mobile App Developer – Sulzer US, LLC – Washington, DC


This is a full-time, remote position (Washington DC metro-area preferred) working collaboratively with colleagues across the US and Europe.

Who You Are:
Sulzer US is looking for a lead mobile application developer who is both Android and iOS proficient to lead a growing team in mobile application design and development. You manage and work collaboratively with a team of software developers and project managers to analyze user requirements, contribute to UX, implement designs/logic, integrate with backend system, and setup continuous integration and continuous delivery for App builds. When in front of a screen, you’ve got the forte for writing clean, readable and maintainable code, and you are able to identify and communicate areas of improved to team members. With a hunger for all things tech, you will bring an open mind to learning new things as well as a fresh perspective.


What you bring to the team:

  • Proven work experience as an iOS and Android developer, minimum 4 years. Multiple published apps on both platforms.
  • Experience with iOS programming languages such as Swift and Objective C.
  • In-depth knowledge of Android development with Java.
  • Understanding of architectural patterns such as MVVM.
  • Experience with the SDLC and agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with OOP design principals.
  • General understanding of algorithms and data structure.
  • Experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Ability to use critical thinking and sound judgement.
  • Working knowledge of industry trends and technologies.
  • Clear communications style, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with external partners and client stakeholders.
  • Management experience.
  • Experience with NFC, Google Maps, Navigation, Google Pay, Material Design, View Binging, Hilt, Biometric, Networking/WiFi is a plus.
  • eMobility experience is a plus.


Within Your First Month You’ll:

  • Learn about Sulzer US, our business model, and product and service offerings with our onboarding program.
  • Ramp up on our technology stack through manager and peer-led trainings sessions.
  • Complete and deploy your first assigned project.
  • Meet with clients and internal team members to start building rapport.


Within 3 Months, You’ll

  • Feel comfortable navigating our tech stack and continuously leverage your team members to help fill in any gaps of understanding.
  • Work closely with clients to understand the big picture and actively contribute to new ideas.
  • Take ownership of your first project and lead your team to success
  • Begin to identify areas for your team to improve


Within 6 Months You’ll:

  • Lead the team to deliver quality solutions on time
  • Demonstrate clear communication with clients, internal teams, and direct reports to streamline delivery and create a positive work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with your manager to identify areas for personal growth and create a plan to improve.
  • Identify areas for your team to improve and continue to build an environment of trust
  • Have a deep understanding of your project(s) and continue envision the big picture


Within Your First Year You’ll:

  • Own and be accountable for one or more mobile applications that your team will contribute to.
    • Launch one or more of these apps and work to continuously improve them
  • Work closely with your team of developers to build cutting edge applications for our clients and their customers.
    • Work closely with clients and designers to build rich user experience.
    • Deliver one or more projects for our clients.
  • Manage your team and set expectations
    • Set goals for your team and oversee their professional development.

  • Virtual Technical Interview using Codility or Microsoft Teams with your future peers, diving into your technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Final Interview, either video or in-person, to enable our leaders to get to know you and give you the opportunity to share all your burning questions about Sulzer US, our culture, and your desired role.
