Behavioral Health Therapist Supervisor – Southwestern Medical Center – Lawton, OK

The Behavioral Health Therapist Supervisor assists the Administrator of Behavioral Health in the oversight

and management of the Units and works closely with the Behavioral Health Leadership team to ensure that

the therapists on staff are well trained and competent to perform their duties

according to the highest standards of quality. The Behavioral Health Therapist Supervisor provides

group therapy as well as individual and family therapies for their personal caseload. The Behavioral Health

Therapist Supervisor participates in observing, reporting, and recording of patient behaviors and reports

to the Administrator. Responsible for providing high quality patient care, including assessment, psycho-
diagnosis, treatment planning, individual, family and group therapies and discharge planning.

Responsibilities also include helping to provide a safe and secure unit environment for all patients and staff in

compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Must possess effective communication

and interpersonal skills and ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care. Must be able

to read, write and comprehend medical terminology. Must exhibit a professional appearance. Must be at

least 21 years of age, dependable and emotionally stable. Responsible for maintaining personal and

professional growth and development.

SERVICE EXCELLENCE:

Participates in the Hospital’s Service Excellence Program designed to improve patient care, employee and physician satisfaction. Participation includes knowledge of HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Systems and Providers, which measures patient’s perceptions of care received and Core Measure Set, which measures performance of patients’, care based on medical research.

TASKS:

  • Maintain accurate, detailed progress reports and records
  • Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions
  • Assist with managing budgeted man hours daily
  • Supervise all therapists and performs 30/90 day/annual evaluations; performs competency assessment
  • Coordinates a peer review program/process for all employed therapists
  • Holds all therapist accountable for complying with provision of care required per active treatment standards and per HBIPS/core measure requirements
  • Ensures therapists under supervision have on site supervisor, and all documents are reviewed and cosigned per regulatory timeframes
  • Coordinates practicum, internships, etc. related to prospective therapists
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings in coordination with leadership
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions
  • Consult and coordinate with treatment team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient treatment plans
  • Apply physical intervention techniques as a last resort to prevent harm to patients and/or staff
  • Provide individual, group and family therapy
  • Provide case management (including attendance at court hearings) and discharge planning
  • Complete psychosocial assessments timely
  • Maintain safety and structure of the milieu
  • Develops and implements Community Outreach Strategies – Referral Development
  • Promotes customer service (Patients, Families, Visitors, Employees, Physicians)
  • Trained to respond to medical emergencies
  • Other duties as assigned

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

  • Current LCSW, LPC, LBP or LMFT License from the State of Oklahoma
  • CPR/AED
  • CAPE
  • Valid Drivers License issued by the State of Oklahoma (if applicable)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Previous Inpatient Behavioral Health experience
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

EDUCATION:

  • Post-graduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field; Fully licensed in respective field.
