Medical Billing/Coding Specialist (San Diego)

Our Busy Pain Management Practice has an immediate opening for a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist, who can provide exceptional customer service, and demonstrate their ability to communicate with insurance companies, physicians, medical group representatives, and patients in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.

The successful candidate must have excellent knowledge in Medical Billing and Coding and have the necessary skills to coordinate, verify, distribute, and manage all billable services. This role will verify appropriate use of CPT and ICD-9 and 10 codes and modify for all charge encounters. Our specialties require this position to perform highly complex and detailed coding for all inpatient and outpatient services, procedures, and surgeries billed by our group. Responsibilities:
• Collect, post, and manage patient account payments
• Effectively manage aging of receivables
• Submit claims to insurance
• Prepare and review patient statements
• Review delinquent accounts and call for collection purposes
• Process payments from insurance companies
• Maintain strict confidentiality
• Code patient services and enter into computer
• Sort and file paperwork
• Handle information about patient treatment, diagnosis, and related procedures to ensure proper coding
• Follow up to see if a claim is accepted or denied
• Investigate rejected claims to see why denial was issued
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• CPC Certification through AAPC or AHIMA
• Must have knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9 and 10 certification
• 2 or more years’ of prior Medical Coding and Billing experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Pain Management
• Experience with eClinicals

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma, G.E.D. • Additional classes and certification in medical coding and billing
