A bit about us:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our healthcare organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, financial analysis, and healthcare industry regulations. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial insights to support organizational decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the healthcare industry.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, healthcare accounting principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; knowledge of healthcare-specific software (e.g., EPIC, Meditech) is a plus.

Job Details

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and healthcare industry standards.
  • Generate financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders as required.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts for the organization.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide explanations for significant deviations.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop budget projections and financial plans.

Compliance and Regulation:

  • Maintain compliance with healthcare industry regulations, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulatory guidelines affecting the healthcare industry.
  • Implement internal controls and procedures to ensure financial compliance and mitigate risks.

Financial Analysis:

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis for capital investments, operational initiatives, and strategic projects.

Audit and Taxation:

  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual financial audits and ensure timely completion of audit processes.
  • Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for audit purposes.
  • Assist in tax planning and compliance, including preparation of tax returns and filings.

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and administration, to achieve organizational goals.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
