Job Overview:

As a HEDIS Abstractor Nurse, you will conduct chart abstraction for HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) measures. This includes abstraction, review, and reporting of medical record clinical documentation into a data collection tool to evaluate the quality of care provided to Medicaid members.  You will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate abstraction that will be used to evaluate Medicaid program quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate activities to ensure timely and accurate chart abstraction on patient medical records for a set of eight HEDIS measures, including clinical review, administrative support, and quality assurance
  • Collaborate with the abstraction team to ensure that plans, tasks, and timelines meet contractual and Company requirements and guidelines
  • Provide regular updates to Company management on the activity and/or status of abstraction
  • Participate in activities to ensure high-quality abstraction, including participation in training, weekly clinical review, and overread
  • Communicate directly with healthcare organizations to request follow-up medical record information as needed and ensure timeliness and completeness of medical records.       

Qualifications:

  • Must be either a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Five years of experience preferred working in direct collaboration with providers, population health or public health, and/or health care quality improvement
  • Experience with chart-based HEDIS measure abstraction
  • Experience with overread processes
  • Familiarity with chart measure request process and health care settings
  • Knowledge of the following healthcare quality principles (Preferred):
    • Healthcare services, healthcare organizations, and programs
    • Information management processes, electronic health records, and healthcare information technology
    • Effective communication, both written and verbal
    • Experience working in a virtual environment
