Supervisor – Animal Field Services – City of Dallas, TX – Dallas, TX

The Supervisor-Animal Field Services supervises, supports, oversees, and monitors all animal field services performed for the City of Dallas animal control. Oversees bite investigations, animal impounding, warrant creation, general field work, and employee training to ensure efficient, effective, and safe animal field services.

1 Oversees, supervises, and monitors animal safety and care while at the Animal shelter; performs daily Rabies walkthroughs, ensures quarantine measures are in place, and determines actions based on testing and animal status.

2 Investigates, evaluates, reviews, and supervises all bite calls and cases; performs field services to find dog, determine and notify owners, issue citations, and provide all investigative services; drafts and creates affidavits for dangerous or aggressive dogs, and educates owners and victims on bite and investigative process.

3 Evaluates and checks vaccination status of dogs in the field, monitors compliance with City regulations, and catches and transports dogs when needed.

4 Impounds and tracks dogs in the field; supervises, supports, and coordinates efforts amongst team and performs field services work; catches animals, performs safe handling, identifies owners, contacts police, and performs and oversees all paperwork and actions.

5 Identifies and determines cases of cruelty; performs due diligence measures including gathering information, taking photos, and making contact with owner; issues citations, confiscates animals, and documents actions thoroughly; supervises other field services personnel to ensure all protocols and processes are followed to mitigate risk, and potential liability.

6 Supervises and oversees the care and maintenance of field services vehicles; ensures all personnel are performing the necessary maintenance and care to keep vehicles operable and safe.

7 Provides in house office work and oversees and inputs information into the system; receives and evaluates new bite, bodily injury, or other documentation and oversees the accuracy of documentation and reporting; dispatches personnel to critical animal situations and provides follow up and

8 Monitors, supervises, supports, counsels, trains, and oversees staff performing field services and answering bite and injury calls; monitors performance and ensures all protocols and policies are followed; supports and assists with challenging situations both in the field and in the office.

9 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.

1 Knowledge of Animal Field Services and the Dallas Animal Services department.
2 Knowledge of Animal Control policies and procedures.

5 Ability to perform field work in support of animal services.
6 Ability to investigate and determine bite or bodily injury cases and perform necessary due diligence.
7 Ability to supervise and oversee staff performing animal services in the field.

9 Ability to keep accurate information and maintain systems.
10 Ability to communicate and oversee policies, protocols, and processes.

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.

For evaluation purposes, acceptable qualifying experience for all positions must have been in a paid capacity unless noted otherwise in the minimum qualifications for the posted position.

Additionally, 30+ hours per week will be counted as full-time employment and will receive full credit for the amount of time employed. A minimum of 15 through 29 work hours per week will be counted as part-time employment and will receive half credit for the amount of time employed.
