Manager, Therapy Services

The Manager of Therapy Services is responsible for therapy department management, delivery, and coordination of services provided in an age-appropriate manner, consistent with the principles and practices of applicable therapy practice acts of the state where the hospital resides, the professional code of ethics, and the policies, procedures and guidelines of Post Acute Medical. The Manager of Therapy Services assists the DOR in therapy department/administrative responsibilities and other related duties as assigned or requested. The Manager of Therapy Services is responsible for direct patient care for the population served in the inpatient or outpatient therapy setting(s). This is an exempt position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implements and monitors process improvement, program outcomes, and patient satisfaction; ensures team involvement in and education about projects.
  • Provides input to assist with effective preparation and monitoring of program budgets.
  • Assesses the team program delivery and identifies opportunities for new program development.
  • Demonstrates support and provides assistance in marketing effort.
  • Participates in the development and implement of activities related to designated team.
  • Attends patient care conferences when requested by the Director of Rehab to monitor team participation and effectiveness of the process.
  • Provides clinical and/or administrative services appropriate to license/certification including direct-care service to patients of varying diagnoses and ages, as needed.
  • Participates in physician relations activities.
  • Oversees generation of the therapy schedule; ensures adequate staffing via rotation schedule of regular or placement of contract staff as needed.
  • Assists and collaborates with the Medical Director, physician or consultants, and other staff members of the rehabilitation team in circumstances where joint efforts are necessary.
  • Ensures organization/ cleanliness of treatment area(s).
  • Has knowledge of growth and development of patients of all ages.
  • Assesses, provides and interprets age specific data including response to treatment of patients of all ages, within scope of license.
  • Communicates with the family or significant others and involves the same in the decision-making related to plan of care of patients of all ages.

Administrative Duties

  • Participates in developing, maintaining and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with various Post Acute and discipline-specific therapy standards of practice, as well as Medicare and The Joint Commission (TJC).
  • Assists the Rehab Services Director with the development of the annual budget and capital expense plans.
  • Serves as the team’s safety representative and assigns response teams for all applicable codes.
  • Performs regular audits of medical records for compliance to discipline-specific as well as other pertinent standards. Participates in interdisciplinary peer review of records.
  • Conducts and participates in routine meetings, as applicable to therapy team services.
  • Monitors team budget performance and ensures effective cost control and utilization of resources.
  • Monitors and trends productivity data to ensure appropriate staffing. Maintains cost-effective and efficient daily staffing pattern.
  • Monitors the use of contract staff and oversees their orientation to the department and documentation procedures.
  • Consistently meets deadlines and completes all of assigned tasks.
  • Covers hospital orientation segment on request.
  • Ensures timely coordination of therapy schedules.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Training: Current license as PT, OTR, SLP, PTA OR COTA in state where hospital resides required. Current BLS certification required.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical/patient care experience required. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
