Summary
Employees in this job function as limited radiological technologists with responsibility for operating X-ray
equipment for assisting physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Reports to work as scheduled each and every day.
- Adheres to SCOI’s punctuality and attendance policy.
- Complies with SCOI policy and procedure.
- Required to verify correct patient, laterality and body part before performing any exam.
- Completion of electronic fee ticket through AccelaCapture.
- Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
- Adjusts and sets radiographic controls, such as kilovoltage and milliamperage, to prescribed
specifications for proper timing of exposure; regulates the length and intensity of film exposure.
- Positions and restrains patients; Takes X-rays of patients’ chest, limbs, or other parts of the body
as requested by physicians.
- Implements infection control procedures for the work area.
- State requirement is that: lead markers are to be utilized on all exams. Computer generated laterality / initialed markers are not allowed.
- Travels to different S.C.O.I. radiological departments as needed.
- Navigates/utilizes the PACS system
- Digitizes film to the PACS system as needed
- Uploads CDs to PACS for patients with outside images.
- Checks X-rays for clarity of image, and retakes X-rays when needed.
- Distributes films to appropriate medical staff. This will include, but not be limited to, bringing up
patients’ images from PACS for the treating physician
- Maintains quantity and quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by
laws, rules, and departmental policies.
Assists with bringing the patient from the Pods to the X-Ray department, as needed..
- Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining
repairs needed to equipment.
- Protects patients and other personnel from radiation hazards.
- Maintains radiographic supplies, cassettes, and equipment.
- Organizes films and CD copies of images for assigned MDs’ pre-op appointments and surgeries.
- Secondary duties will be assigned by Directors, Managers, and Supervisors & Leads. For example assisting teams with x-Ray orders, rooming, transporting patients to facilitate patient care.
