Lead Therapist – Mindoula Health – Washington, DC

Our CareMind Health team is looking for a full-time Lead Social Worker to provide onsite group therapy within our inpatient Behavioral Unit at United Medical Center located in Washington, DC.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Provide two group sessions daily, Monday – Friday, one of which is group psychotherapy. The other therapy group can be music, art, or another form of expressive therapy.
  • Provide oversight of program operations including managing social workers, ED Crisis Clinicians, and case managers employed by CareMind Health at the site, including scheduling.
  • ED Crisis Clinicians (ED CC) are assigned to the emergency department to provide behavioral health assessments for patients with acute psychiatric issues, make an initial psychiatric diagnosis, and determine if the patient needs psychiatric hospitalization, or can be discharged with outpatient resources.
  • For patients who need hospitalization, the ED CC will verify insurance, obtain an inpatient bed on the inpatient psychiatric unit at United Medical Center (UMC) and facilitate transfer from the ED; or refer patients not appropriate for hospitalization at UMC to other regional inpatient psychiatric units.
  • For ED psychiatric patients who need transfer to another facility for psychiatric hospitalization, the ED PCC will obtain a bed at the accepting facility and arrange transport by ambulance.
  • For ED psychiatric patients who can be discharged to a lower level of care, the ED CC will provide outpatient behavioral health resources at the time of discharge.
  • All ED psychiatric assessments will be documented in the hospital’s EMR
  • ED Crisis Clinicians are essential to meet quality standards of care and provide behavioral health intervention.
  • ED Crisis Clinicians are responsible for throughput for behavioral health patients in the ED including evaluations, bed searches, and insurance authorizations
  • ED Crisis Clinicians manage triage of patients and determination of the appropriate level of care including but not limited to disposition recommendations and safe discharge planning.

Education & Experience:

  • Masters Degree
  • Washington DC Licensed LMSW, LCSW, or LPC
  • Minimum of 1-year experience required

Schedule: Full-time, Monday- Friday. 11A – 7P.
