About Sport Ortho Urgent Care
Sport Ortho Urgent Care is in an exciting growth phase and has immediate opportunity and need for two Authorization Specialists. The Authorization Specialists will be responsible for the expedient and accurate approval of DME, Surgeries, Injections, MRIs and Physical Therapy.
RESPONSIBIITES/ACCOUNTABILIES:
This position is responsible for obtaining pre-certifications and pre-authorizations for procedures and medications
- Contact insurance carriers to verify patient’s insurance eligibility, benefits and requirements.
- Request, track and obtain pre-authorization from insurance carriers within time allotted for medical and services.
- Request, follow up and secure prior-authorizations prior to services being performed.
- Communicate any insurance changes or trends among team.
- Clearly document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel in standardized documentation requirements, including proper format.
- Assist with other clerical tasks as needed.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High Scholl Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years experience in authorizations
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of medical practice procedures and terminology is helpful
- Candidates must be able to work with high volume of work while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
OTHER
- Experience in Athena practice management system is preferred, but not required
- Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice
- Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
- Performs additional duties as requested by Manager or Team Leader/Supervisor
