Traveling Veterinary Technician – South Orange County to Oceanside!


Our Traveling Veterinary Technician will float between Thrive Pet Healthcare
hospitals from Oceanside to South Orange County region to assist the veterinarians and their teams in ensuring quality care. The key responsibilities will vary with the individual needs of the hospital team. If you enjoy training others or are looking for variety – this is the role for you!

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform venipuncture, IV-catheter, and injection administration
  • Set up, position, and take digital radiographs
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia and assisting in surgical procedures
  • Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiographs
  • Receive, handle and treat patients with skill, compassion, and care including accurately performing laboratory tests.
  • Ability to clean and sanitize the hospital, treatment rooms, and public areas, and any other areas as assigned to ensure a safe, sanitary environment for the patients.
  • Accurately dispense and administer medications under the supervision of a doctor.
  • Accurately and timely input data into a computer software system.
  • Ability to observe the animal’s appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent.
  • Regular attendance and timeliness are essential functions in order to fulfill the requirements of this position.
  • Strong communication and client service skills. Considerable tact and diplomacy are required. Ability to work with clients and patients in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner.
  • Work well with all team members and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.
  • Perform general physical activities that require bending, standing, stooping, moving from room to room, sit, talk, and listen; may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequently lift, carry and handle dogs weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Follow OSHA regulations.
  • Report to the local Manager and Director of Ecosystems.


Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of direct patient care experience; CVT / LVT / RVT preferred, or experienced uncredentialed professional with VACSP
  • Team player and willingness to cross train
  • Self-driven accountability for learning
  • Positive attitude
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Self-starter
  • Some weekend day availability
