RN Supervisor 5th Floor – Logan Regional Medical Center – Logan, WV

JOB PURPOSE: To provide administrative and professional nursing skills for a designated patient care area and to coordinate assigned nursing personnel. Responsible for managing and coordinating various activities necessary to the maintenance of an efficient patient care program. To provide professional supervisory nursing practice in the care of the patients, families, and employees.

Utilizing the Nursing Process, the Shift Coordinator directs and guides patient-centered care meeting both the psychological and physical needs of the patients and ensures optimal care and service in accordance with physician orders, JCAHO, OSHA, nursing and departmental guidelines. The Shift Supervisor fulfills these duties to ensure continuity and quality of care which fosters the best interest and well being of all patients and their families. Also, assists Director of Nursing in overall management and clinical activities on the designated unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of a program for Registered Nurses with an appropriate degree in Nursing and licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of West Virginia. Must possess at least one year of clinical experience.

Must achieve PALS and ACLS within 1 year of the hire date, and maintain active certification thereafter.

Ability to communicate both orally and in writing and to conduct self in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to guide and direct activities and staff to provide optimal patient care. Utilizes the nursing process as a framework for patient care while recognizing the dignity and worth of each patient. Collaborates with other health care members to maintain a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
