Position Responsibilities:
The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has a postdoctoral research associate position immediately available. Applicants should have a PhD, MD or equivalent degree and proven skills and experience in the research areas of behavioral pharmacology and molecular and cellular neuroscience, in particular, in rodent models of addiction. The ideal candidate should have publication records in peer-reviewed journals and experience in behavioral analysis in rats and/or mice, histochemistry, and molecular methods. The research focus of our laboratory will be on identifying underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms and the genetics of alcohol use disorder using rodent models. The department has a group of outstanding scientists in pharmacology and drug abuse research, and the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with them and get assistance in developing an independent career in the research field.
