Golden Wood is currently looking for a positive, dependable and compassionate kennel assistant to join our team. Applicants must be detail oriented and able to multitask. Golden Wood strives for top quality care provided to our customer’s pets. Excellent husbandry and attention to detail is a MUST! The care of the pets boarding here is a top priority and must be cared for daily, including nights, weekends, holidays and during all weather conditions. Pay is based upon your experience and your performance during your working interview.
Requirements:
Knowledge of basic dog care and grooming such as baths and nail trims
Handling all breeds and sizes of dogs comfortably.
Handling cats, rabbits and other smaller pocket pets.
Handling pets with anxiety and fear driven qualities.
Veterinary or previous kennel experience is a PLUS!
Interest in working with customer service is a PLUS!
Weekends and Holidays are required.
Job duties include:
Basic husbandry of kennels and condos.
This includes : spraying disinfectant, scrubbing surfaces, rinsing and drying. You will be required to kneel, bend and have full range of motion in your arms.
Picking up poop, urine, vomit, food, leaves, sticks and removing snow and ice from runs.
Laundry service.
Feeding, Watering and Medicating.
Playtimes, Nature Walks and Additional Services.
These are performed in inclement and cold weather conditions, and in the summer time during hot temperatures.
Ground and Kennel Area maintenance.
Bathing, trimming nails and cleaning ears.
Environment:
Floors can be wet at times, recommendation of muck/rain boots.
Ability to step over hoses or objects that may be in your path.
Ability to lift up to 25 – 50 lbs. (Food, animals, bedding, bags and or toys)
We work in all weather conditions: rain, snow, sleet, ice and heat. You will be required to dress accordingly and work in these temperatures.
