Nutritionist (WIC Program)
The Onondaga County Health Department WIC Program is seeking a qualified candidate for Nutritionist position. The WIC Program is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children that provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, referrals and nutritious foods.
Typical Work Activities:
Provide nutrition education and counseling to pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children.
Provide management and supervision of professionals, paraprofessionals and clinic flow as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with major studies in Food and Nutrition and be a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Other Requirements:
- Must have a strong knowledge of Maternal Child Nutrition
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with the public
- Must have the ability to work as a team member
- Basic computer skills as well as working knowledge of record keeping
Position Schedule:
- Full-time/35 hours per week – 4 day work week
- Weekly evening hours
- Work on site at different WIC office locations
