Department: Resident Care Services

Reports to: Resident Services Director

Objective: Coordinates resident care related to medications by working with all departments, the medical community, families and administrative staff to provide for resident needs with continuity and an adherence to the scope of practice and licensure for the community. This position provided complete supervision of the medication room, pass techniques, documentation and supervision, and provision of care related to medication in the community. This position is required to have passed the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Qualified Medication Administration Personnel training and test. This qualification must be kept current. QMAP’s are on duty for their scheduled shifts and may also be personal care providers.

Responsibilities of the QMAP:

  • Resident charts. Keeping documentation current (physician orders, incident reports, etc.)
  • Observe and report resident status changes.
  • Ensure all medication is current and correct, including medication administration forms, physician orders, changes of does, etc.
  • Ensure medication room is completely stocked with all required continuous, PRN, Over-the-Counter (OTC), and other medication as ordered by the physician.
  • Control medication room access and key assessment.
  • Pour, pass, and assist with administration of medications in accordance with state regulations.
  • Coordinate physician and other medical appointments as necessary.
  • Read all communication notes regarding the community between the caregiver shifts.
  • Gathering residents for activities on a daily basis.
  • Serving and cleaning up during and after meals.
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.

Employees will be expected to:

  • Follow correct policy and procedures for department and facility Fire/Disaster Plan/Evacuation Plan. Know the location of fire alarms and extinguishers.
  • Follow correct policy and procedure for hand washing
  • Follow guidelines for proper method of lifting
  • All doorways, hallways, and areas are to be kept clear
  • Be familiar with and know the location and purpose of the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Follow guidelines for department environment and safety measures
  • Follow guidelines for safe handling, inspection, maintenance and storage of medications. Report any misplacement or dropping of medications.
  • Follow guidelines for safe handling and storage of chemicals and supplies.
  • Follow correct policy and procedure for reporting of incidents: staff, residents, etc.

Pay: $15.00 – $16.50 per hour
